is now officially a sport"
AAU
URBAN DANCE LEAGUE
There
are many urban dance competitions around the world today, some
allowing all styles to enter while others focus on more specific
styles. There are an estimated 12,000 urban dance competitions
through out the world
The World Hip Hop Championships in America is currently the largest
and arguably most respected of the International competitions
for Hip Hop Dance featuring the worlds most recognized dance crews
and nations. (Battle of the Year, UK Bboy Championships and Juste
Deboute remain the choice for specific forms)
Today, many dance studios offer hip hop classes of some sort.
Many high schools through out the United States have step teams
and or hip hop dance teams. Participants cover all ethnic demographics.
They might focus on a specific style such as break dancing or
combine elements of various street dance styles
The AAU Urban Dance League was formed to provide a legitimate
uniform governing body to the sport of urban dance. The UDL board

June 13th
- 28th, 2008
CLICK
HERE FOR INFO
The
South Texas Sports Festival began in 2005. As word spread
to AAU members in other sports, the idea began to grow
like wildfire.
In it's
first year the Sports Festival included four sports and
over 4,000 competing athletes! In 2006, there were five
sports with over 5,000 participants.
We will
continue developing a Sports Festival program that will
empower, enlighten, and engage more athletes in health
and fitness, academics, character building, and leadership
skills than ever before and promote more opportunities
for all amateur athletes in Texas.
This
year's Sports Festival has been awarded to Brownsville,
Texas and surrounding areas. Listed below are the proposed
events that will be conducted.
Boys Basketball. Soccer. Cheerleading.
Track and Field.Softball
